The inaugural North West Football Awards (NWFA) reached a glittering climax last night in a star-studded ceremony at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. Local firm Forbes Solicitors was recognised by the judges for its "professional expertise and substantial support to grass roots football" in the category of Business Services to Football.

Daniel Milnes, Partner in the Business Law Team, received the award from sports presenter Ray Stubbs and Iain Mackenzie the General Store Manager of Harvey Nichols Manchester. The commendation not only recognises the work Forbes has undertaken for Blackburn Rovers FC and Burnley FC as their legal advisers but also the firm's extensive commitment to Grassroots Football. The firm is the sole sponsor of a number of tournaments and clubs in the Lancashire area including the annual pre season Blackburn and Darwen Football Festival which with the firm's support has grown to be one of the largest in the country.

John Barker Managing Partner commented "the firm is passionate about football and so we are delighted to be commended for our work in this area. To be short listed with global firm Deloittes really does show what an impact we have made."

Football heroes from across the country attended the exclusive event, including Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award and Sir Alex Ferguson, who picked up Manager of the Year.
