Whilst many are considering whether Pippa’s dress will be as equally figure hugging as that worn to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding, others, and certainly the close advisors to Mr Matthew’s, will be considering whether the couple will enter in to a pre-nuptial agreement.

Although there is no exact recorded net worth for the hedge fund manager, it is believed to be in the millions and as with any marriage where one party brings with them sizeable assets, pre-nuptial agreements are becoming increasingly more popular to protect capital wealth.

The pre-nuptial agreement will need to meet certain criteria and also be deemed as ‘fair’ in order to be upheld by the Courts. Mr Matthews would be able to include terms such as excluding spousal maintenance if the marriage was to break down or include certain boundaries when it comes to ‘matrimonial’ and ‘non-matrimonial’ property. Miss Middleton could also benefit from a clause providing a moderate capital sum if the marriage breaks down within a specified period.

Although many may argue it’s not romantic, it is a practical step to consider on your wedding to do list. For further information please contact our Family team via email or phone 08006891058. Alternatively send any question through to Forbes Solicitors via our online Contact Form.

Pre-nuptial or not, here is to wishing the two of them a long, happy and successful marriage.
