The World Health Organisation (WHO) has redefined burnout as a syndrome linked to chronic work stress. Burnout has three principle elements: feelings of exhaustion, mental detachment from one's job and poorer performance at work. Although there are not specific statistics on burnout it is reported that in 2018, 595,000 people in the UK suffered from workplace stress. This has or will impact on your business at some point and you need to be prepared for what you will do to reduce that impact to your people and to your business' bottom line.

Waiting until someone is burned-out to do something about it is already too late, so in this session Julie Blinkho and Jackie Connaughton of the Business Health Institute will talk about identifying the signs and symptoms of pre-burnout, discuss the ways of supporting someone experiencing pre-burnout, together with a discussion of the employment law implications to your business from a HR perspective by Emma Swan.
