APIL (Association of personal injury lawyers) have recently launched a safety campaign focusing on Pedestrian safety. Although the number of accidents involving pedestrians has remained the same over the past few years it remains too high.

Pedestrians are considered vulnerable road users. Any collision with a vehicle can have catastrophic consequences for a pedestrian and could result in life changing injuries. Causative potency is often a factor. In other words, the damage a vehicle can cause to a pedestrian can be significant. This is often taken into account when apportioning blame. The pedestrian should fair better than the driver when presenting a claim. The vehicle is often considered as a "weapon" by the courts. The onus is on the driver to take extra care, especially in built up areas or around schools.

APIL will be sharing lots of useful information and have set up a Facebook page dedicated to the "Injury Prevention Week" which you can follow here. MPs have also been contacted to encourage their support.

If you, a friend, or family member have been unfortunate enough to have been injured in a pedestrian accident you may be entitled to compensation. Here at Forbes solicitors we have a dedicated team who have years of experience of recovering compensation. We act on a no win no fee basis. Please contact us if you would like some advice.
