The Governments ban of evictions was due to be lifted on the 23 August 2020 after 5 long months, but at the 11th hour on Friday afternoon, Housing Secretary, Robert Jenrick, announced a further extension of the ban by another 4 weeks until the 20 September 2020.

Mr Jenrick is also taking the additional step of extending the minimum notice period required to be given to tenants from 3 months to 6 months, bringing England in line with Wales, so it's vital that landlords get their notices in immediately.

This is no doubt disappointing for landlords who have been waiting a long time to regain possession of their property and have often been without the rental income.

The lifting/extending of this moratorium is an ever-moving target and the Property Litigation Team remain with their finger on the pulse, ready to assist landlords in navigating this tricky situation.
