National Apprenticeship Week began on 8 February. This year's theme is 'Build The Future.' With 20 years of experience in progressing employees through apprenticeships, Forbes Solicitors has helped build futures and this year has been no different and has been as successful, despite the Pandemic.

Five employees began their Level 2 Business Administration BTEC 12 months ago and successfully completed their training last month and two completed their Level 3 Paralegal apprenticeships.

As the pandemic took hold, virtual online assessments replaced face-to-face assessments and many meetings took place with tutors remotely to ensure the apprentices were supported throughout their course. Forbes currently works with various training providers DAMAR, Nelson & Colne College and UCLan to collaboratively ensure that our apprentices achieve their apprenticeship qualifications.

Paris Livesey, who is employed within Forbes' Crime Department as a Case Worker, completed her Level 3 Paralegal apprenticeship last month, after completing a Level 2 Business BTEC apprenticeship earlier in her tenure at Forbes. Speaking to our training team, Paris said she would highly recommend Forbes as a place to work and undertake an apprenticeship. She praises the support she has received.

"I have always found that those around me at Forbes want to help me in excelling and moving up the ladder to get to where I want to be so it speaks volumes about where I am now. I started as an Office Assistant after leaving school and progressed to assisting on preparing cases, to now having some of my own cases. Whilst on the course, the support from my colleagues and peers was fantastic. You're working alongside those who have been there and done apprenticeships before, and have been through the exams before for example, so are able to help. Forbes give you all the advice you need about how to progress in your career and have shown you can always better yourself and improve your skills."

Forbes values the input of apprentices across its business and would encourage others to invest in the programmes and reap the benefits. 2020 was a tough year for everyone, yet our apprentices have risen to challenge and supported the business in many different ways. Forbes offered ten apprenticeships to colleagues last year, all of whom we expect to successfully progress onto different roles within the firm upon their completion. The current cohort include five Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeships, three Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeships and two Level 6 Legal Executive Apprenticeships.
