Local law firm Forbes Solicitors has issued a warning for people to claim back care home fees if they think they or a family member have been incorrectly assessed.
Nearly 100,000 people in the UK who qualify for NHS continuing care but have been incorrectly assessed or had the funding unlawfully withdrawn, and have since paid their own care home fees may be eligible to claim back these costs. The Department of Health has issued a new deadline of 30 September 2012 for people to claim back care home fees for the period between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2011.
Jane Flaherty, a specialist Solicitor in the Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax Department at Forbes Solicitors and member of Solicitors for the Elderly comments, "We are able to assist in claiming back fees where assessments have been incorrectly made. Once the deadline has passed, people will no longer be able to reclaim care home fees so if you think you or your family member has been wrongly charged for care now is the time to ask the primary care trust to reconsider their decision."
