Local MP Jack Straw recently attended Blackburn Incorporated Law Association (BILA) dinner as guest of honour. The evening was organised by Mike Blacklidge, Partner within local law firm Forbes Solicitors.
The dinner, the second Mr Blacklidge has arranged in his role as President of the Association, was held in the Premier Suite at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Mr Straw who is also Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice made a toast to the Association. In his speech he focused on criminal defence solicitor involvement in local Criminal Justice Boards and growth in the legal sector locally and nationally.
Mr Blacklidge was also delighted to be able to host other guests including Tom Finn, Managing Director of BRFC, His Honour Judge Russell, the Recorder of Preston, Miranda Carruthers-Watt the Chief Executive of Lancashire Police Authority, Simon Corns, Headmaster at QEGS, District Judges Ward and Jones and Tony Cross QC.
