The Government has today announced that Part 1 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 ('the Act') will commence with effect from 23 March 2015.
Part 1 of the Act refers to the new civil injunction designed to tackle anti-social behaviour. As a result, the Part 1 civil injunction will commence on 23 March 2015. There was a delay in the introduction of Part 1 which was necessary to make changes to the system for rewarding legal aid services.
Until the new civil injunction comes into force, the ASBO on application, anti-social behaviour injunctions (and the other powers the new civil injunction will replace) will remain in place and social landlords should continue to use the current ASBI's to deal with perpetrators of anti-social behaviour.
