Two Personal Injury Solicitors from Forbes Solicitors are successfully assisting on the new northern helpline for Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA). Sara Linford and Leonie Woods from the firm's office in Accrington have volunteered - as part of a team of twenty from other law firms in the Northwest - to provide free information, advice and support to people affected by medical accidents and so far have helped to increase the number of calls that AvMA are able to take by 100%.
Sara commented "We are both very excited to be given the opportunity to work with AvMA and to use our specialist Clinical Negligence knowledge in such a positive way. Medical accidents are often a traumatic experience and every day peoples' lives are devastated by avoidable errors in healthcare. Some people will just want to talk, others will want to make a formal complaint and others will look for compensation. By sharing our expertise and assisting with the helpline we can help people identify the best steps to address their needs."
Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) is an independent charity which promotes better patient safety and justice for people who have been affected by a medical accident in the UK. A 'medical accident' is where unintended harm has been caused as a result of treatment or failure to treat appropriately. AVMA believes that whatever the cause of a medical accident, the people affected deserve explanations, support, and where appropriate, compensation.
