Leading law firm Forbes Solicitors has enhanced its work in the pensions sector by joining the

Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes (AMPS).

AMPS is a body which represents the SIPP (Self-Invested Personal Pension) and SSAS (Small Self-Administered Pension Schemes) industry and comprises pension scheme administrators, IFAs, banks and law firms.

It seeks to represent the industry as a whole to bodies such as HMRC and the Treasury on issues which directly impact upon the industry, and keep members updated on the latest developments in the area through conferences, training and newsletters.

AMPS has more than 150 member firms representing many parts of the member-directed pensions industry, including SIPP operators, SSAS practitioners, pension lawyers, banks, investment houses and software developers.

Forbes has a dedicated SIPP and SSAS Group based at its Blackburn and Preston offices acting for various sizes of pension scheme administrators throughout the North West.

It has developed specialist expertise and efficient systems in a wide range of SIPP & SSAS related topics for almost 10 years to assist its established pension scheme administrator clients and also individual clients working with a scheme administrator on a one-off basis.

The SIPP & SSAS Group has specific experience in Commercial Property, Corporate, Dispute Resolution/Debt Recovery, Employment Law and Tax & Trust Law

Head of Forbes SIPP and SSAS Group Adam Bromley said: "We pride ourselves on the practical working relationship that we create between the member trustee and their financial advisers and chosen scheme administrator.

"This ensures that a cost effective and efficient service is always provided allowing each transaction to proceed as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

"AMPS is run by a committee, elected by the membership and amongst its varied duties, the committee makes representations on behalf of the member-directed pensions industry to bodies such as HM Revenue & Customs, Financial Conduct Authority, HM Treasury and the Department for Work and Pensions.

"We are delighted to be a part of such an important and influential body."
