The new government have wasted no time in laying an order before Parliament suspending HIPs pending legislation for a permanent abolition. Energy Performance Certificates remain a requirement.
The speed at which this action has been taken has removed the uncertainty from the market as sellers waited to see when the HIPS would be abolished as it had been in the Conservative election promise to get rid of HIPs.
Hopefully this move will encourage more people to market their properties without the upfront cost of the Home Information Pack which cost several hundred pounds to compile, and the contents were often out of date by the time a buyer was found.
