The Equality Act Update & Mock Tribunal held this week at Stanley House Hotel was a resounding success with over 70 representatives from local employers attending.
Jonathan Holden from the Employment team at Forbes kicked off the day with a brief overview of the Equality Act, this was followed by a mock tribunal acted out by the Employment team. The mock tribunal focussed on unfair dismissal and age discrimination and gave an insight for employers on what takes place in a real tribunal situation.
It was an interactive seminar with delegates being given the chance to vote on what they thought the outcome of the case would be. A number of attendees commented that "it was an excellent seminar" and it was well received by all.
Jonathan Holden comments "It is our hope that this session enabled employers to see just how important adherence to procedures, and taking advice early on can be. Tribunals can be costly and unpredictable, but hopefully this event has helped our clients to avoid some of the hurdles and pitfalls that can lead to Tribunal claims. I am overwhelmed with the positive feedback, and I only hope that this is the only tribunal our clients will have to face."
