Young footballers who play fair and respect the game will reap the rewards thanks to a new scheme setup between Forbes Solicitors and the East Lancashire Football Alliance.

All teams who play in the East Lancashire Football Alliance are eligible to win the Forbes Fair Play Award providing they

  • play fair and observe the laws of the game
  • play to win but accept defeat with dignity
  • respect opponents, team-mates, referees, officials and spectators

The East Lancashire Football Alliance (ELFA) has over 3,500 children playing in 270 teams on Sundays. The winning teams will have the chance to see Premier League action at Ewood Park following two hours of pre match coaching. There are three chances to win throughout the season and the first winners were Rossendale Valley Under 10s and Lammack Juniors Under 16s.

Forbes has a strong ethos of supporting local footballing projects and recently won Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year at the prestigious North West Football Awards.

John Barker, Forbes' Managing Partner comments, "We have been supporters of the East Lancashire Football Alliance for many years and this scheme encourages the players to enjoy the game in the right way."

Craig Wilksinson, league secretary comments, "We would like to thank Forbes and Blackburn Rovers for encouraging young players to value the game we all love."
