Our ever-expanding Housing team is attending this week’s Housing 2021 in what promises to be the biggest meeting place for the sector this year. There’s so much happening that we’ll be bringing you a daily round-up of what’s hitting the headlines, the best of the speaker sessions and an insight into some of the events – including our own.

We look forward to seeing many of you there and celebrating the housing sector’s resilience, excellence and leadership which continues to deliver for communities across the UK.

If you have time, we’ve included a survey link at the bottom of this email - we’d be really interested in your view.

We’ll be around the conference over the next couple of days and would love to catch up. Let us know if you’d like to grab a coffee with one of the team.

What does levelling up mean for the social housing sector?

Inside Housing ran an insightful piece on how the conference illuminates what the government’s levelling up agenda means for the housing sector. We’re set to see investment across the UK with a focus outside London and the South East. Our clients are based across all corners of the UK and we watch with anticipation what support will be provided to develop new homes and help meet targets such as net zero.

Homes England has appointed 66 developers to £20bn framework

As reported in Housing Today, Homes England has revealed the 66 developers it has appointed to a new £20bn procurement framework. With some more well-known names not on the list, many in the sector and debating how to engage with the appointed developers and whether consortium bids might be the way to participate in the next round.

What the sector has to say

A dynamic purchasing system to revolutionise procurement?

The Minister of State for Housing and Planning (Rt Hon Christopher Pincher MP) took to the stage at midday to deliver the keynote address. This comes on the back of the launch of the new Delivery Partner Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), which aims to set the foundations for housebuilders of all sizes to find it easier than ever to access Homes England land.

It also means that housebuilders can now apply to join the agency’s list of preferred developers at any time, rather than having to wait until the list is renewed once every four years as was the case under the old DPP Framework contracts.

Any questions about this, please do get in touch with me.
