Within this role, your duties will include:

  • Advising on a wide range of employment law issues for our public sector clients;
  • Developing relationships with clients including delivering training to clients;
  • Drafting and advising on contracts and policies;
  • Assisting with Employment Tribunal Cases;
  • Managing own caseloads;
  • Any other duties as required by the department.

Working within the Employment Department and as part of a team the successful applicant will:

  • Be Solicitor or CILEx qualified (all levels of qualified experience will be considered)
  • Have excellent client care skills
  • Have proven experience of providing professional and competent legal advice in accordance with SRA Code of Conduct
  • Be IT competent
  • Have the ability to generate fees in accordance with agreed targets
  • Have proven experience of handling own caseload, working to and managing deadlines
  • Have excellent writing and drafting skills, with excellent communication and technical ability.

The Firm will consider all types of PQE experience for this position from Newly Qualified to Senior Associate levels.

Candidates must have a full UK driving licence and access to a car as national travel may be required. 

Hybrid working is available.

The position will involve working as a member of a team within the office and to undertake the following duties:

  • Providing an informed and professional response to new enquirers by telephone and e-mail
  • Converting as many new enquiries as possible into new business for the firm
  • Providing quotes, as appropriate, to clients
  • Book appointments for clients to see relevant solicitors, as appropriate
  • Organising legal help assessments and arranging for all relevant documentation to be received by the firm
  • Following up with any information that the client may require
  • Identify any potential conflicts in relation to new business enquiries
  • Quickly and knowledgeably signposting enquiries to the correct department, as appropriate
  • Filtering the types of enquires that the firm does not deal with and signposting them elsewhere
  • Performing administration duties in line with the requirements of the department
  • Facilitating online chat enquiries
  • Producing reports, as required by the New Business Team Leader
  • Any other duties that may be required by the New Business Team Leader

The successful applicant will have:

  • Have 5 GCSEs Grades 9 - 4, including Maths & English Language at Grade 5, or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal, organisational and IT skills including a working knowledge of MS applications
  • A willingness to learn to touch type and develop skills as they progress within the Firm
  • Be articulate and have a confident telephone manner with excellent listening skills
  • Have the ability to work with initiative and independently and be able to manage their own workload
  • Be able to empathise with clients and build rapport
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be an effective and supportive team player with a professional, ‘can do’ attitude

Within this role, your duties will include:

  • Dealing with a broad range of Home Ownership transactions for the Firm’s Housing Association clients including;

  • Resales and Staircasing
  • Right to Buy and Right to Acquire
  • Land and property disposals
  • Lease extensions
  • Developing relationships with clients
  • The successful candidate will work on their own caseload.

Working within the Housing Development Team the successful applicant will ideally have:

  • ideally hold the LPC or CILEx qualification (or equivalent), or hold other further education qualifications (e.g. LLB, A Levels)
  • have demonstrable legal experience within a property environment either residential or social housing
  • have an interest in long term development / progression in the department
  • have the ability to work unsupervised and good self-motivation skills
  • have the ability to work as part of a team and be reliable and enthusiastic
  • Strong IT skills
  • Capability to generate fees in accordance with agreed targets
  • Proven experience of handling own caseload, working to and managing deadlines
  • Good writing and drafting skills, with excellent communication and technical ability

  • the ability and confidence to deal with Clients by telephone and in person
  • proven interpersonal, organisational and IT skills, including experience of MS Office applications and case management systems
  • the ability to touch type would be an advantage

Reporting to the Head of HR, ideally CIPD L5 qualified, you will be a proven HR generalist able to work collaboratively. Confident in your employment law knowledge, you will be well equipped in dealing with all Employee Relations matters and can demonstrate knowledge and experience of the end to end ER processes. With high attention to detail, you will have the ability work at pace in a professional work environment. This role is multi sited to support the Firm as a whole.                     

Within this role, your duties will include:

- Co-ordination of recruitment across the Firm, including supporting Heads of Department/Office Managers in undertaking the recruitment process at all stages.

- To undertake inductions of new starters, as part of the IIP process, produce contracts of employment, inform key colleagues and update HR database.

- To support and implement the Firm’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and report where necessary.

- To monitor sickness across the Firm in line with the Sickness Policy; produce quarterly sickness reports and undertake advice and encouragement sessions, as required.

- To be involved in the disciplinary and grievance processes, including investigations; producing documentary evidence, advising Partners and taking detailed notes during interviews.

- To provide advice to staff and line managers regarding the Firm’s HR policies and procedures.

- To organise and attend training/recruitment events with external providers.

- To produce management reports as required and oversee maintenance of departmental databases.

- To undertake internal quality audits in relation to ISO 9001 and to look for continuous improvement to support the development of the Firm / department(s).

- To provide support and guidance to the HR Administrator and HR Advisor to help them develop in their role.

 

 Working within the HR and Training Department and as part of a team the successful applicant will have:

- Proven experience in a HR generalist role which includes providing expert advice and dealing with matters in a timely manner.

- Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organisation

- Confident working independently and autonomously when providing advice with a resilient and flexible approach

- Be system orientated and proficient in the use of Microsoft packages

- Demonstrate a proactive approach and be solution orientated

- CIPD qualified (Level 5) desirable.

The successful candidate should have a full driving licence and their own vehicle as site visits are essential to the role. An interest or experience in learning and development would be an advantage.
