Forbes Solicitors, one of the largest Law Firms in the North West, has a vacancy for a Admin Assistant based within the Housing and Regeneration Team at the Gordon House office in Preston. 

The position will be suited to a motivated self-starter who will work independently as well as supporting a wider team. 

The suitable applicant will be required to undertake the following duties:

  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing post
  • Providing typing / administrative support to the Department
  • Responsibility for the opening, closing and quality control of files to meet ISO QMS requirements
  • Working in co-operation with Fee Earners
  • Typing letters, notes, memos and other documentation
  • Answering incoming calls

The successful applicant will have:

  • 5 GCSEs A to C, or equivalent, including Maths and English Language – essential criteria;
  • Good interpersonal and organisational and IT skills;
  • A willingness to learn to touch type and develop skills as they progress within the Firm
  • Knowledge of filing as well as other office procedures
  • Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team
  • Ability to deal with Clients by telephone and in person
  • Knowledge of IT systems, including software packages and email
  • Ability to use office equipment, including fax machines and photocopiers

The hours will be 9.00am until 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, commencing with 20 holidays, plus 8 statutory bank holidays pro rata.

- the ability and confidence to deal with Clients by telephone and in person

- good interpersonal, organisational and IT skills;

- previous knowledge of a case management system would be ideal, however, full training will be given

- the ability to touch type would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given

 

Candidates must have a full UK driving licence as occasional travel may be required throughout the North West region.

HR Advisor leading to HR Officer (Ref 864)

Forbes Solicitors, one of the largest law firms in the North is looking for an approachable and experienced HR Advisor to provide additional support to the firm and HR and Training Department, with potential to develop into an HR Officer role. 

The role – To deal with a range of confidential HR duties including:

  • Meeting with colleagues on various HR related matters
  • Undertaking sickness monitoring and dealing with matters as appropriate
  • Manage staff relationships and promptly respond to queries and manage expectations
  • Ensure HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal and firm requirements
  • Assisting with recruitment
  • Undertaking analytical work on management information and compiling reports
  • Updating and maintaining the HR and Training Database and record keeping
  • General HR administration tasks eg updating of policies and procedures
  • Ensuring the firm’s policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Supporting the wider team in responding to HR queries from internal and external customers

The successful candidate will be required to deliver a HR service to our internal customers which is respected for its professionalism and helps the Department to consistently deliver an effective and efficient HR service.

The person - will:

  • Be educated to GCSE level, including Math’s and English grades A-C, or equivalent
  • Have previous HR experience, essential
  • Be qualified to CIPD Level 3 or equivalent, level 5 CIPD desirable
  • Have excellent IT skills and have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Ideally be a touch typist, or have a willingness to learn
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal and be accurate in presentation of their work
  • Will be a motivated self-starter, with the ability to manage their time effectively and efficiently, can work as part of a team and requires minimal supervision
  • An appreciation and understanding of employee confidentially at all times is required.

 A full UK driving license and regular access to a vehicle will be required due to the firm being multi-sited.  Requests for part time working will be considered.

The ideal candidate will have a Marketing & Business Degree with a minimum 3 years post graduate experience, preferably in a professional services environment.  This is a varied role which covers all aspects of marketing. The role will appeal to candidates who are effective multi-taskers and who enjoy working across multiple practice areas. The successful candidate must have strong organisational skills and be able to calmly manage multiple deadlines.

Candidates must have a full UK driving licence as travel will be required.

Assisting with marketing campaigns and working with the Business Development Manager for Commercial and Insurance you will use the full marketing mix to raise and maintain awareness of our Commercial (Corporate, Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Commercial Property & Employment) & Insurance expertise.

The role will include:

  • Developing and organising marketing campaigns in order to strengthen existing relationships and develop new client opportunities
  • Organising targeted events, conferences and industry exhibitions
  • Coordination, editing and distribution of printed and digital newsletter and alerts.
  • Drafting and designing marketing materials (i.e. invitations, notifications to clients and internal advertising, social media updates)
  • Working alongside our design agency in relation to the campaign marketing (visuals and aesthetics)
  • Working with fee earners and our PR agency to encourage thought leadership for press, industry relevant editorial and web articles
  • Championing social media including  LinkedIn page and Twitter accounts
  • Expanding and updating of commercial and insurance website and intranet pages
  • Assisting with drafting award entries, directories and league tables
