It doesn’t mean that everyone always agrees with each other at all times but that people are free to be themselves, and challenge one another respectfully. When workplaces are psychologically safe it helps unlock talent, helps teams become more adaptable to change, effectively resolve problems and develop creative solutions.
Some questions to consider:
Are people encouraged to feel safe, able to speak their mind and be themselves?
Has the fear of speaking out been eliminated?
Are people afraid to raise concerns or ask challenging questions?
Can they respectfully disagree with one another at all levels?
Can your team members work through disagreements together (whilst still having each other’s backs)?
Can they brainstorm out loud and feel their contributions are valued by leaders and team members?
Would team members at all levels agree with your answers to these questions?
If this is something that you want to develop or work on within your organisation, our HR Consultancy team can support you.
