Embrace the Seasonal Shift: Prioritise Your Wellbeing as Autumn Approaches
As we approach September and October, the thought or the impending change from Summer can leave some of us feeling a little bit low. Sometimes it’s the return to work, the kids returning to school, the change of the season or the knowledge that we're a little closer to winter and the darker nights. Whatever it may be, it's an important time to ensure that we are making plans to prioritise our own health and wellbeing and take steps to maintain it.

We're not in winter yet!
There are still lots of opportunities to get yourself outdoors and maintain an outdoor lifestyle to keep your vitamin D levels up! Get yourself outside in the fresh air and nature for a walk, a hike, a cycle, whatever it is that floats your boat! Even if the temperatures start to drop, brave the weather, get yourself wrapped up and you'll feel better for it afterwards!
Get set in work!
As HR professionals we're often pulled in all sort of directions which can make it hard to set boundaries and is why it's so important to make sure you protect time for your wellbeing in the day such as taking lunch breaks, block your diary if it helps! Get outside on your lunch break if you can to get some fresh air and a change of scenery! If you work from home at all, see if you can eat your lunch in the garden.
Watch your energy levels!
Keep an eye on what energises you or may deplete your energy during the day/week. Try to take a few minutes here or there to slow down, perhaps in-between meetings and do anything that might reenergise you. It might be a brew, watching a daft video, deep breathing, find what works for you!
Reset & Accept
With several proposed changes in legislation on the horizon awaiting answers, in work don’t forget to reset & accept what you can control, influence and what is outside of your control to bring balance and not to feel overwhelmed. Many of us in HR can be guilty of not doing this but if you feel you do need support, don’t wait too long to speak to someone about it!
