In 2022, a Claimant suffered multiple injuries after their vehicle was struck from behind by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) at a traffic light- controlled junction. The Claimant had slowed to turn around following directions from their satellite navigation system when the defendant’s HGV collided with the rear of their car.
The Claimant sustained several injuries, including:
Brief loss of consciousness
A soft tissue knee injury
Lumbar soft tissue damage lasting four months
Whiplash- type neck pain lasting six to eight months.
A right shoulder injury that developed into adhesive capsulitis- requiring surgery, with a recovery time of 3.5 years.
