Forbes Solicitors has successfully secured a £25,000 compensation settlement for a Claimant who developed Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) and worsening asthma after prolonged exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace.
Between 2018 and 2023, the Claimant was exposed to dog hair and mould while working as a solicitor at the Defendant’s premises. These substances were classified as hazardous under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, which require employers to assess and control exposure to harmful materials.
Despite knowing the Claimant had a dog allergy, the Defendant failed to implement adequate safety measures, resulting in significant respiratory health issues.
Medical evidence confirmed that the ongoing exposure contributed to the Claimant developing exacerbated asthma and ABPA. Following the diagnosis, the Claimant sought legal advice from Forbes Solicitors’ Personal Injury team to pursue compensation for the harm suffered.
The case was handled by Leonie Millard, one of Forbes Solicitors’ expert personal injury solicitors, and successfully settled for £25,000.
