Forbes Solicitors secured a £37,500 settlement for a factory worker who sustained a Grade 3 acromioclavicular (AC) joint disruption injury to their right shoulder, requiring reconstructive surgery. An underlying condition further complicated the injury. Although the Claimant was able to return to work, they continued to experience restricted movement and pain.
The accident occurred while the Claimant was moving large sheets of wood, measuring 2.44m x 1.22m x 0.18mm, to load into a van as part of a premises relocation. The sheets had been stacked but were not secured with a strap, which had been removed. As the Claimant attempted to remove the two remaining sheets, one of them toppled forward, causing the injury.
After the accident, the Claimant contacted Forbes Solicitors to pursue a claim for the workplace injury. Upon contacting the Defendant, their insurers admitted liability. A settlement was negotiated after medical evidence was gathered and the Claimant’s future ability to continue working, risk of redundancy and capacity to perform domestic tasks, such as DIY, were assessed. The case was successfully settled for £37,500 by John Bennett, a Personal Injury expert at Forbes Solicitors.
