A security guard employed at the Defendant’s premises was injured after slipping on an icy, ungritted path while walking to work. The fall left the Claimant with multiple minor injuries, including grazes to the head and elbow, bruising to the hand, finger, thigh and knee, including groin and thigh pain. As a result, the Claimant was unable to work for several months.

Following the incident, the Claimant contacted Forbes Solicitors to pursue a claim for the injuries sustained. Upon contacting the Claimant’s employer, Forbes Solicitors learned that the employer denied responsibility, instead blaming the owner of the premises for failing to grit the path. However, the occupiers of the premises later admitted liability via the Rapid Claims Portal but failed to respond to the Claimant’s offer to settle the matter.

As a result, proceedings were initiated, prompting the defendants to make an offer that matched the Claimant’s original settlement proposal. This offer was subsequently accepted, and the case was managed by John Bennett, a Personal Injury expert at Forbes Solicitors, who successfully negotiated the £9,000 settlement on behalf of the Claimant.
