Speed Costs Lives - Slow Down!

A newspaper recently reported that when Edinburgh cut its speed limit to 20mph in areas across the city deaths fell by nearly a quarter and serious injuries by a third.
The faster you go the harder you hit and the more damage you may cause. The recently updated Highway code reflects this and puts the hierarchy of road users as follows:
Pedestrians
Cyclists
Horse riders
Motorcycles
Cars and taxis
Vans and minibuses
HGV's
The code focuses on protecting the most vulnerable road users. As we go about our busy lives' things seem to get faster including traffic. The consequences of rushing can be catastrophic.
When conflict and collisions occur the most vulnerable, (pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist and horse riders), who do not have the benefit of a protective cage around them, usually come off worse. Injuries are not only inconvenient but can be devasting and life changing in some cases.
If you, a member of your family or friends have been unfortunate enough to have been injured in a road traffic collision you may be entitled to claim compensation and recover any losses incurred, obtain funding to help with treatment and recovery. Here at Forbes, we specialise in dealing with personal injury claims. Our team of experienced solicitors are cyclists, horse riders and drivers and understand the risks and problems that can occur.
