In October, the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 comes into force but what does this mean for you? Put simply, the new law will place a proactive duty on employers to take “reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment of workers by their colleagues and if you breach this duty, employment tribunals have the power to uplift compensation by up to 25%! This could be expensive if any employee has succeeded in a claim for multiple incidents of harassment. It is therefore more vital than ever that employers are equipped to know how to tackle this within their organisation. Join Jen in our next knowledge and porridge webinar, to uncover what the new legislation has in store for employers. Jen will be looking at:
What is sexual harassment;
Implications of the new law for employers and employees;
How you can prepare for the new duty, including any preventative measures you can adopt;
Practical tips to help avoid exposure.
