Kella Bowers is a Partner and Head of Insurance. The Insurance department represents clients nationally in both the public and commercial sectors. The Department operates over 3 regional offices and includes teams focusing on abuse, disease, complex injury, regulatory matters, fraud, property and environment, motor, casualty claims and housing.

Kella previously held the role of Head of Abuse and Social Care for 12 years, where she undertook work nationally and was involved in the child sexual exploitation work in two of the country's largest and most controversial CSE claim groups for Rotherham MBC and Rochdale MBC. She is also experienced in dealing with adult social care, human rights cases and complex article 2 inquests for both Local Authorities and Housing providers.

The Abuse & Social Care team has national coverage of Social Services, Care and Housing clients and Kella previously worked with ALARM to produce a manual for the Management of Children's Services Claims. She has also been involved with the Historic Abuse Litigation Forum and was a founding member of the FOIL Abuse Claims Practice and Procedure Strategic Focus Group. This group has been involved in creating and presenting a draft Pre-Action Protocol for Abuse work to the Civil Procedure Rules Committee and engaged in responses to the MOJ and CPRC with regards to recent consultations on PAPs and Remote Medical examinations.

Kella has been regularly recognised as a Recommended Lawyer and a Leading Individual by Legal 500 and was also shortlisted for the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse awards in the insurance lawyer of the year category.

Kella is also a trustee of the Forbes Foundation charity, Quality Partner and Graduate Training Principal for the firm.
