Shane has over 25 years' experience working in criminal law. He qualified in 2004 and achieved duty solicitor status soon after. He was a director at Maidment's from 2006 until joining Forbes as a Partner within the specialist Crime division in 2019.

Shane has extensive experience in the detailed preparation of complex and difficult cases involving serious crime. He specialises in serious, grave and complex matters such as terrorism, murder, cyber-crime, international and national drug conspiracies and serious RTAs. In recent years, Shane has been involved a number of substantial drugs cases involving EncroChat arising from Operation Venetic.During the last 12 months Shane has represented clients charged with murder, conspiracy to murder (gang related), conspiracy to import class A and B drugs, causing death by dangerous driving, money laundering and fraud.

Shane also has significant experience of defending vulnerable clients in murder cases who suffer from serious mental health issues. Shane also has notable experience representing youth defendants charged with murder.Shane is a recommended lawyer in Legal 500 2021, 2022 and a next generation partner in 2023.
