In May 2017 Lucy was promoted to Partner having trained with the Firm. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2000.
Lucy is the Training Lead within the Social Services and Abuse Team and acts on behalf of numerous local authorities with particular focus on alleged failings in social care practice. Her caseload comprises current and historic abuse claims involving child sexual exploitation, inappropriate seclusion, failed multi agency approaches, failures in safeguarding practices, deficits in the commissioning of services, Human Rights Act claims, and data breaches. Many claims in Lucy's case-load attract media coverage and lesson-learning following IMR process, Serious Case Review, Safeguarding Practice Review, Domestic Homicide Review, OfSted intervention, or Care Commission Review. Lucy will engage with Senior Management to obtain evidence of reflection, learning and/or improvement to avoid or minimise adverse findings.
Lucy is also part of the Education Team at Forbes which acts for over 450 educational establishments. She contributes to Q&A and other training events and advises clients on their approach to cases involving special educational needs, teacher/pupil abuse claims, 'peer on peer' abuse claims, alleged failures to educate, lapses in safeguarding and inappropriate restraint claims.
Lucy has Inquest expertise representing a number of clients awarded Properly Interested Person status. She is well versed in Inquest preparations, evidence and Regulation 28 issues.
Lucy writes and presents regularly at a variety of events and forums speaking on a range of topics.
