On the day of the incident, the Claimant was performing their usual duties when another staff member mopped the kitchen floor. Although wet floor warning signs were placed in the area, staff failed to follow correct safety procedures, specifically, the floor was not dried after mopping, which is a crucial part of McDonald’s internal health and safety protocol.
As a result, the Claimant slipped and fell on the wet surface, suffering a fractured wrist that required medical treatment and time off work.
Following the accident, the Claimant contacted Forbes Solicitors to claim compensation for the accident they had suffered at work. When Forbes Solicitors contacted the Defendant, the Defendant denied liability for the accident. However, upon review of the denial documentation, it was evident that the procedure had not been followed, and the floor remained wet, which caused the Claimant to fall.
Proceedings were issued to move the case forward to Trial. However, through further negotiations, we were able to secure a successful settlement of £4,000 on behalf of the Claimant before the case reached Court.
The claim was handled by Michelle Kemp, one of Forbes Solicitors’ leading personal injury solicitors specialising in workplace accident claims.
