Did you know...

  • Driving for work is one of the most dangerous activities employees can do? Many road deaths involve a vehicle being driven for work

  • More than 1.3 million people die on roads every year

  • Road crashes cost the UK economy around £36 billion each year.

Too many people die on Britain's roads every year. As the nights draw in vulnerable road users, pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders are less visible.

#RoadSafetyWeek is BRAKEs largest road safety campaign and takes place every year to raise awareness about important road safety messages and raises funds to help victims and those affected by road injury and death and campaigns for safer roads. The theme this year is Safe Roads For All, bringing together communities and professionals to shout out for everyone's right to make safe and healthy journeys on safe roads. BRAKE aim to raise awareness of key areas of road safety the Government supports, including safe roads, safe vehicles and speeds, the new hierarchy of road users, and the importance of inclusivity to keep everyone safe on the roads, no matter who you are, or how you travel.

Their aim is to make our roads as safe as possible and one day eliminate all deaths and serious injuries. We hope they succeed. If you would like to donate to support #RoadSafetyAwarenessWeek click here.

The recently updated Highway code focuses on protecting the most vulnerable road users and puts the hierarchy of road users as follows:

  • Pedestrians

  • Cyclists

  • Horse riders

  • Motorcycles

  • Cars and taxis

  • Vans and minibuses

  • HGV's

Road crashes have a devastating effect on families and communities. If you, a friend or family member have been a victim of a pedestrian road accident you may be entitled to recover your losses to help with your recovery. Catastrophic injuries can change the life of an individual and their family. They may need support, equipment and adapted accommodation. Here at Forbes we offer no win, no fee advice. Please call one of the team if you have suffered injuries in a pedestrian road traffic accident.
