The 2021 edition of the Academy Trust Handbook (currently known as the Academies Financial Handbook) has just been released and is due to come into effect from 1st September 2021.

The new name is just one of a number of changes in the 2021 edition which include practical reminders, clarification and new information to aid Academies and their management.

New additions include:

  • Requirement for trusts to have reserved places for those with parental responsibilities in their governance structure
  • External governance reviews
  • Information on cybercrime
  • When trusts should review their scheme of delegation
  • Documents available for public inspection
  • Information on internal scrutiny
  • Renaming the financial notice to improve (FNtI) to notice to improve (NtI)
