Craig is a Partner in the firm and heads up the High Profile & Private Crime Division. He is a Solicitor Advocate who specialises in criminal defence, regulatory, and business crime. He leads our specialist team, which focuses on representing professionals, prominent individuals, and businesses subject to investigation or proceedings by various regulatory and enforcement agencies, including the Police and CPS.
Craig is a highly experienced trial lawyer and has an excellent track record of securing acquittals. He has personally conducted over 700 trials and acted as a solicitor litigator in many more, often instructing the best silks in the country. He has successfully defended a broad spectrum of clients. His clients have included doctors, dentists, teachers, solicitors, senior police officers, clergy, premier league footballers, celebrities, politicians, and company directors.
Often instructed in high profile cases attracting media attention, Craig is reassuringly calm and discreet. As a lawyer, he is fearless in pursuing justice for his clients. He has earned a reputation for being able to succeed even in cases that initially appear unwinnable.
He has successfully defended professionals in disciplinary proceedings and can assist in cases brought by the General Dental Council, General Medical Council, and Solicitors Regulation Authority. He is also regularly called upon to assist in bespoke multi-disciplinary teams servicing the needs of our corporate clients.
He is also a member of the firm's Regulatory Group and has a wealth of experience defending cases prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, and Trading Standards. He defended the first-ever fraud prosecution brought by the Pensions Regulator and recently defended in a high-profile case by the Information Commissioners Office.
Craig has worked in legal practice since 2006 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2008. Before this, he trained as a Forensic Scientist and has an honours degree in Forensic and Biomolecular Science. Craig has a particular interest in cases involving expert evidence, and his background has assisted him greatly in successfully challenging such evidence. He is a member of the Law Society's Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme and is a council member for his local Law Society. Craig also holds 'Higher Rights of Audience' and is entitled to conduct advocacy before all criminal Courts, including the Crown Court and Court of Appeal.
