A 72 year old man was awarded £16,500 in compensation after contracting asbestosis. He had worked for his employers in the building trade between the years of 1952 1983. During that time he regularly came into contact with asbestosis fibres.

Recently he developed asbestosis and brought a claim for personal injury against his former employers for exposing him to asbestos on a regular basis. His claim was successful.

Most claims have to be brought within 3 years of the date of the incident or within 3 years of the date the individual knew or ought to have known of the incident or its effects. Even though the individual in this case suffered the injury many years ago he wasn't too late because his condition had only developed recently.
